Freedom of Speech in Red
The Handmaids of Las Vegas photo essay.
I encountered the Handmaids of Las Vegas not long ago. They wear iconic white bonnets and flowing red cloaks. The outfits are based on characters from the book, “The Handmaids Tale,” by Margaret Atwood. The handmaids in the book are simultaneous oppressed and resistance to their own oppression. The Handmaids in real life wear these bright red capes as a symbol of resistance to autocracy that is gripping the United States. Below is a short 3-photo essay of them at work. They’re a non-profit organization and you can learn more about them here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61582024954211.
